Acceptable Use Policy

This policy governs how you may use BC Cloud services. By using our services, you agree to comply with this policy in full.

Prohibited Activities — Illegal Use

You may not use BC Cloud services for any activity that is illegal under the laws of England and Wales, or any jurisdiction in which you operate. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Hosting, storing, or transmitting illegal content
  • Copyright or trademark infringement
  • Fraud, identity theft, or phishing
  • Money laundering or financial crime
  • Drug trafficking or the sale of controlled substances
  • Trafficking in weapons or dangerous materials
  • Child exploitation, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or any content that sexualises minors
  • Human trafficking or modern slavery

⚠️ Any service found hosting illegal content will be suspended immediately and the matter reported to the appropriate authorities, including the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) where applicable.

Prohibited Activities — Network Abuse

The following network activities are strictly prohibited on BC Cloud infrastructure:

  • Launching or facilitating denial-of-service (DoS) or distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks
  • Unauthorised port scanning or vulnerability scanning of systems you do not own
  • Network flooding, packet flooding, or traffic amplification attacks
  • Unauthorised access attempts to third-party systems or networks
  • Operating botnet command-and-control infrastructure
  • Distributing or hosting malware, ransomware, spyware, or other malicious code
  • IP address spoofing or ARP poisoning
  • Operating open proxy or VPN relay services that route third-party traffic through our network without prior written approval

Prohibited Activities — Spam and Unsolicited Communications

BC Cloud operates a zero-tolerance spam policy. The following are prohibited:

  • Sending unsolicited bulk email (spam) from any BC Cloud IP address
  • Operating mail servers or infrastructure used for spam distribution
  • Harvesting or collecting email addresses for unsolicited mailing
  • Hosting websites advertised via spam
  • Sending unsolicited SMS messages or automated calls

Accounts found to be sending spam will be suspended immediately. Repeated violations will result in permanent account termination.

Prohibited Activities — Harmful Content

You may not host, store, or transmit content that:

  • Contains malware, viruses, trojans, or other harmful code
  • Is defamatory, harassing, or threatening towards individuals or groups
  • Promotes or incites violence, terrorism, or hatred based on protected characteristics
  • Contains adult or sexually explicit content without robust age verification in place
  • Infringes on the intellectual property rights of third parties
  • Violates the privacy rights of individuals (e.g. doxxing or non-consensual intimate images)

Fair Use of Resources

BC Cloud services are provided with bandwidth and resource allocations intended for normal hosting activity. Permitted use includes:

  • Website traffic and content delivery for hosted sites
  • Email services associated with your hosting account
  • Game server player connections and related data transfer
  • API requests and responses for hosted applications
  • Standard application workloads

The following are not considered fair use and are prohibited without prior written approval:

  • Cryptocurrency mining operations
  • Operating public VPN or proxy relay services that route third-party traffic
  • Bulk file storage or distribution services consuming disproportionate bandwidth
  • Persistent high CPU load that negatively impacts other customers on shared infrastructure

BC Cloud reserves the right to throttle, suspend, or terminate services found to be abusing shared resources, and to require migration to a dedicated or metered plan at additional cost.

Your Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for:

  • All content hosted on your services and ensuring it complies with applicable law
  • Securing your account credentials and any applications you deploy
  • Maintaining up-to-date backups of your data
  • Ensuring any third parties who access your service comply with this AUP
  • Promptly reporting any security incidents or suspected compromises to BC Cloud

Enforcement

Violations of this AUP may result in one or more of the following actions at BC Cloud's sole discretion:

  • A warning and request to remedy the violation immediately
  • Temporary suspension of affected services
  • Permanent termination of all services and account closure without refund
  • Reporting to law enforcement or regulatory bodies
  • Civil or legal action to recover costs and damages

BC Cloud reserves the right to investigate suspected violations, access account information for the purpose of such investigations, and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies.

Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any activity on BC Cloud infrastructure that violates this AUP, please report it to us immediately:

Please include as much detail as possible: date and time, description of the violation, relevant IP addresses or URLs, and any supporting evidence such as logs or screenshots.

This AUP is governed by the laws of England and Wales and is effective from April 2025.
